Dear friends,
Like many of you, your Messiah Council has been closely watching the weather reports for this weekend. Out of an abundance of caution, we will not gather in-person for worship or our annual meeting this Sunday.
This does not mean worship is cancelled! We will still offer a livestreamed service of Morning Prayer via Facebook and YouTube. You can find the Order of Service here. You and your households are encouraged to still gather within your homes at 10:30am this Sunday to tune into the livestream and to follow along with the Order of Service. If you cannot access the livestream, consider still following the Order of Service and praying with us at 10:30 with the comforting knowledge that we all are praying together in the same way and at the same time.
In order to keep the business of our congregation moving forward, and with the knowledge that virtual annual meetings are not new to us (you will recall we had to do this during Covid), the Council has opted to not cancel our annual meeting either. We will proceed with meeting as a congregation this Sunday at 11:30 AM via Zoom. You can join from your smartphone or computer by following the link below:
If you prefer, you can join the Zoom meeting via telephone. Simply dial:
(346) 248-7799
Once connected, the phone menu will ask you for a Meeting ID. Enter:

We need 25 members to constitute a quorum. Messiah members, please make every effort to attend this meeting via Zoom so we can ensure the business of our congregation moves forward with as little interruption as possible.
You can access the meeting packet and materials here.
While we will proceed with worship and our meeting virtually, some other events in the life of our congregation will be cancelled or postponed this weekend:
Our quilting group will not meet on Saturday. The next quilting Saturday is February 14th.
The Parish Lay Ministry Academy Graduation has been postponed. Please mark your calendars for April 25th at 10:30 AM at Advent Lutheran Church in Arlington, TX. We and the whole synod will celebrate Sherree Wood and her fellow cohort’s PLMA graduation at that time.
We will celebrate our Rite of Welcoming New Members on Sunday February 1st.
We, of course, will not be having our potluck this Sunday.
Thank you all in advance for your flexibility this weekend and for your willingness to still gather as the Church in different and new ways. To paraphrase St. Paul, neither death nor life, neither depth nor height, neither snow nor ice, nor anything else in all of creation will be able to separate us from the Love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord….nor will they be able to separate us from one another!
Stay safe and warm this weekend. Please reach out to your neighbors and to one another to ensure everyone has what they need. Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or needs. I look forward to seeing many of you virtually this Sunday.
Peace and Good,
Pastor Trent
